Pakistani PM Receives RCA Delegation
The Pakistani Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani has received in his office Mohammed Khalifa Al Qamzi, Secretary General of the UAE Red Crescent Authority (RCA) accompanied by Dr. Saleh Al Tayie, Deputy Secretary General, RCA, in the presence of Ali Saif Sultan Al Awani, UAE Ambassador to Pakistan.
Al Qamzi conveyed the regards of H.H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE; the Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum; H.H. General Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces and Chairman of the Executive Council; and H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representative in Western Region, Chairman of the RCA, and their sympathies to the victims of the floods to the Pakistani PM.
He briefed Gilani about the initiative of the RCA in response to the call of Pakistani government since the beginning of the floods. The Pakistani PM thanked the UAE leadership, government and people, commending their assistance to those affected in the flood.
On his part, Al Qamzi said the RCA has dispatched a medical team to provide immediate treatment and immunisation in cooperation with UNICIF, adding that five planes have already unloaded food stuff, tents, dates, relief devices and the next plane is due.
He noted that the UAE government has so far donated US$25 million, besides other donations in response to the call made by the UAE President to help the people of Pakistan.
