The General Secretariat of the Executive Council
It is an administrative body entrusted to propose public policies and strategies to be decided on by the Executive Council. It also provides the Executive Council with support services including drafting and scheduling resolutions, preparing minutes, issuing and following up the execution of the Council’s resolutions.
Pursuant to Law No. (2) of 2006, the General Secretariat of the Executive Council shall, in coordination with the Federal and local government entities, carry out the following duties:
- Study the topics upon the orders of the Executive Council or its Chairman, as well follow up the implementation of the directives concerning those topics.
- Propose and escalate ’s public strategies, systems and objectives to the Executive Council for approval.
- Conduct studies and researches that reflect ’s strategic objectives, aspirations and needs, as well advise the Executive Council and communicate the Council’s directives in this concern to the relevant government entities.
- Consider the government entities’ complaints and relevant issues to be presented to the Executive Council supported with the technical and legal opinion.
- Study bills, decrees, systems, resolutions, regulations and agreements before submittal to the Executive Council.
- rack the performance of the departments, authorities, public organizations and government-sponsored projects and their equivalents in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, check and evaluate their implementation of the approved policies and programs, report the findings to the Executive Council, as well communicate the issued directives in this concern.
- Prepare and issue the Emirate’s Official Gazette.
- Advise on controversial issues and notify stakeholders.
- Receive and classify all correspondences addressed to the Executive Council and communicate the issued directives in this concern.
The Secretary General is the highest power commissioned to steer the day-to-day activities in the General Secretariat.
